Game rules are ticklish texts. Everybody wants to know them, but nobody wants to read them. Rule translations are even more ticklish, for even when everybody involved is doing their best, there are lots of pitfalls – besides the lack of time – for translations especially in this genre. For instance, unique gaming terminology, or rules changing during the process, or rules expressed ambiguously in the original text, but explicitly in the translation – unfortunately explicitly wrong.
Since 2008, I have translated the rules of about 140 games. Huge projects, and small ones.
